2005 Champion Statement I am honored to have won this years Championship and be the first expansion team in league history to win! In my opinion, we compete in a much tougher league than most people who "play" rotisserie baseball. The overall knowledge of the owners of this league is unparalleled and it is an honor to compete with you all. I decided on draft day that I had to win this Championship for my son, CJ. He saw the trophy and has talked about it almost daily since then. He and I looked at the box scores this season almost daily to discuss how "our" team was doing. This league helped me instill a love of the game in him that he will have forever and he & I will remember this season for a long time to come. I would like to take a moment to point out several bold moves that made this Championship possible - trading the best player in the National League (Pujols) for Pedro, Jr and Floyd, et al was a risky move that proved to be the smartest trade in the my career. I had watched all 3 closely during Spring Training and felt that Pedro would be great and one of the two would hold up for the entire season - now both Floyd and Jr are competing for the Comeback Player of the Year award! Drafting Lidge (after he was left by so many) was a huge lift to my team and taking a chance on Roger coming back and being great was another gamble that paid off huge dividends. My pitching staff was incomparable this year as I have 4 of the top 5 pitchers in the National League. If a family emergency hadn't prevented my move for Fuentes this would have been the largest victory in league history! I am honored and proud to be the 2005 Champion and I look forward to defending my title. |
