Monday, January 28, 2008 Chicago White Sox Bobby Jenks still Closer Octavio Dotel to 1st in line in place of Scott Linebrink Scott Linebrink to 2nd in line in place of Mike MacDougal The White Sox signed Dotel to a 2 year deal last week to assist in setting up Jenks. The 34-year-old Dotel had a 1.34 WHIP in 30+ IP last year with 41 K. The injury prone right hander saved 11 games for the Royals before ending his season in Atlanta. Dotel's last full season was 2004 when he had 36 saves split between Houston and Oakland. Baltimore Orioles Greg Aquino to Closer in place of open spot Jamie Walker still 1st in line Chad Bradford still 2nd in line Aquino could be the O's default closer with Chris Ray out for the season with Tommy John surgery. Aquino was claimed off waivers from Milwaukee earlier this off season. The 30-year-old Aquino spent most of 2007 in AAA in the Brewers' system and had a 1.29 WHIP in 14 major league IP with 12 K and 2 holds. The former Diamondback had 16 saves for Arizona in 2004.
