Sunday, July 20, 2008 TAMPA BAY RAYS Troy Percival to Closer in place of Grant Balfour Grant Balfour to 1st in line in place of Dan Wheeler Dan Wheeler to 2nd in line in place of J.P. Howell Wheeler got the final 2 outs in a 6-5 game yesterday for his 4th save of the season. Balfour wasn't used after a 20 pitch inning plus save outing on Friday. Percival is expected back from the DL, hamstring, this week. Balfour is building strong future closer value with a 0.90 WHIP in 23+ IP on the season with 36 K and is 3 for 3 in save chances since Percival went down. Saturday, July 19, 2008 CHICAGO WHITE SOX Bobby Jenks to Closer in place of Octavio Dotel Octavio Dotel to 1st in line in place of Scott Linebrink Scott Linebrink to 2nd in line in place of Matt Thornton Jenks was activated from the DL yesterday, as he stint was short as expected. The 27-year-old closer has a 1.11 WHIP on the season in 32+ IP with 19 K and has converted 18 of 21 save chances. Wednesday, July 16, 2008 LOS ANGELES DODGERS Jonathan Broxton to Closer in place of Takashi Saito Hong-Chih Kuo to 1st in line in place of Jonathan Broxton Cory Wade to 2nd in line in place of Hong-Chi Kuo Saito will be placed on the DL this week with an elbow injury that could eventually need surgery and be season ending. Broxton has been the Dodgers' closer in waiting and could now get the opportunity to close. The hard throwing 24-year-old has a 1.21 WHIP in 39+ IP with 46 K and 13 holds on the season. Kuo has been a surprise in the Dodgers' bullpen this year earning a set up role. The 26-year-old left hander has a dominant 0.96 WHIP in 53+ IP this year with 63 K and 5 holds.
