Cincinnati Reds

Francisco Cordero to Closer in place of David Weathers
David Weathers to 1st in line in place of Jared Burton
Jared Burton to 2nd in line in place of Todd Coffey

The Reds have signed Cordero to a 4 year contract pending a physical this week. The 32-year-old is coming off a 44 save season with a 1.11 WHIP and 86 K in 63+ IP.

Weathers returns to a set up role after a break out 33 save season. The 38-year-old had a 1.21 WHIP and 48 K in 77+ IP.

Milwaukee Brewers

Derrick Turnbow to Closer in place of Francisco Cordero
Guillermo Mota to 1st in line in place of Derrick Turnbow
Greg Aquino to 2nd in line in place of Scott Linebrink

Barring the Brewers' bringing in a veteran closer, Turnbow could get the job. GM Doug Melvin talked about Turnbow being the default closer after Cordero signed with Cincinnati.

The 29-year-old Turnbow spent 2007 as a set up man recording 33 holds in 77 appearances with a 1.32 WHIP and 84 in 68 IP. Turnbow had 24 saves for the Brewers in 2006 and 39 in 2005.

Chicago White Sox
Bobby Jenks still Closer
Scott Linebrink to 1st in line in place of Matt Thornton
Mike MacDougal still 2nd in line

Linebrink has signed a 4 year deal with the White Sox pending a physical this week. The 31-year-old had a 21 hold season in 2007 split between San Diego and Milwaukee with a 1.32 WHIP and 50 K in 70+ IP. Linebrink had 26 or more holds a season from 2004 to 2006 with the Padres.

Cleveland Indians
Joe Borowski still Closer
Rafael Betancourt still 1st in line
Masa Kobayashi to 2nd in line in place of Tom Mastny

The Indians signed Kobayashi to a 2 year deal last week. The 33-year-old had 227 career saves in the Japanese League and is coming off a 2.95 ERA season in 146+ IP with 116 K.

Texas Rangers
Akinori Otsuka to Closer in place of C.J. Wilson
C.J. Wilson to 1st in line in place of Joaquin Benoit
Joaquin Benoit to 2nd in line in place of Wes Littleton

Otsuka missed the 2nd half of this past season with an elbow injury as Wilson and Benoit shared the closers' role. The 35-year-old is currently on a throwing program and should head in to 2008 as the Rangers' closer barring a setback with the elbow.
